Mobalytics Raises $11 Million To Coach Video Game Players

Mobalytics aims to help video gamers play better, and the personal gaming assistant and analytics platform has raised $11.25 million to do it.

The company’s technology analyzes in-game data to improve player performance.

Supported titles include the multiplayer online battle arena game “League of Legends”; auto-battler “Teamfight Tactics”; trading card game “Legends of Runeterra”; and the new first-person shooter “Valorant” — all by fellow Silicon Beach video game firm Riot Games.

Mobalytics has established relationships with esports organizations Team Liquid, Golden Guardians and T1, and served as a scouting resource for professional teams.

“Our team has built and tested the GPI (Gamer Performance Index), which allows us to analyze a player’s performance by understanding their strengths and weaknesses. Therefore players get better at their favorite games,” said founder and CEO Bogdan Suchyk in a statement. “We are ready to combine our technology and new resources to further personalize and level up the player experience.”

The Santa Monica, California-based startup will use its latest funding to further develop its platform’s analytics and personalization, as well as bolster its engineering team and hire additional product experts in the next six months.

The Series A was led by Almaz Capital and Cabra VC with participation from HP Tech Ventures, General Catalyst, GGV Capital, RRE Ventures, Axiomatic and T1 Esports. With seed funding totaling $2.6 million back in 2016, Mobalytics has now raised nearly $14 million.

“We believe that Mobalytics is suited not only to help regular gamers get better but also to help game publishers improve new player onboarding,” added Alexey Alexanov, general partner at Cabra VC. “A gaming assistant would make it easy for new and returning players to learn and master their favorite games, and that can directly impact player engagement, retention and a publisher’s bottom line.”
