aXiomatic Promotes Mark Vela To Chief Strategy Officer

Esports enabler aXiomatic has named Mark Vela Chief Strategy Officer, the esports and video game investment platform announced today. In his new role, Vela will report to aXiomatic CEO Bruce Stein and oversee all investment activity and strategic initiatives, with a particular focus on Team Liquid, the leading international esports team and aXiomatic’s largest investment to date. He was most recently the company’s vice president of strategy, and helped guide its investment in publishing giants Epic Games and Niantic Inc., among other aXiomatic investments.

Mark is a gaming industry veteran with nine years of experience in the space and specialized expertise within mobile games, global gaming platforms and esports. He most recently led games merchandising strategy on Google Play for the Americas region where he oversaw record-breaking growth for the games business. Prior to that, he served as director of strategy, operations & product management at Activision where he designed, built out and led a profitable Mobile gaming division.

Mark’s previous experience outside gaming included strategy consulting with Bain & Company for media & entertainment clients, and sales and marketing for Procter & Gamble. Mark received a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
